Pink Stain and Vinyl Coated Fabrics |
Pink Stain is not the actual mildew micro-organism. It is a by-product of a specific type of mildew micro-organism. This by-product contains a dye which is soluble in the the plasticizer in vinyl coated fabrics, and will stain any vinyl coated fabric it comes into contact with. Even a vinyl coated fabric that is properly protected with an anti-microbial agent will stain if the vinyl comes in contact with the pink, mildew by-product.
All Nautolex vinyl coated fabrics contain a proven anti-microbial agent in sufficient quantity to provide years of mildew free use.
The best protection against pink stain is to construct seating and trim
pieces to reduce dirt and moisture retention, and to only use components that
have an anti-microbial agent. And once constructed, all vinyl coated
fabric items should receive frequent and proper cleaning, with special
attention given to crevices where dirt and water can be trapped.
