Ultraviolet Protection Fabric Classification
Ultraviolet Protection

Considering the health risks we understand from sun exposure today, the ways in which you protect your body from the sun is becoming increasingly important. UPF fabrics have been specially engineered to provide protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays and carry a UPF Value according to the following classification system.

Approximate %
UV Blocked
>15 and 20
>Very Good
>25,30 and 35
>40,45 and 50+

The FDA currently does not allow any fabrics to be classified as having a UPF factor higher than 50+, which blocks at least 98% of the sun's UVA and UVB rays.
