Sewing Durable Fabrics

In sewing with coated fabrics, use the shiny uncoated side as the "right side" for your creations. We suggest using polyester thread for most projects, and using a heavy duty thread on tents, canopies, and other designs like large packs, that are subjected to stress.

A 1" seam allowance is recommended unless otherwise specified on patterns. A stitch length of 3mm (8 stitches per inch) is recommended. On lighter fabrics, hold the fabric taught in front and back of the presser foot to help eliminate puckering.

Sewing machine tension may need to be adjusted, always test tension on a scrap of fabric. Always backstitch at the ends of seams to secure thread. Stay-stitch curved areas such as necklines and armholes.
